Chiropractic and Migraines, A Case Study

From the February 2004 issue of the Journal of Chiropractic Pediatrics, comes a case study of a 28 year old women who suffered with migraines for over 10 years prior to getting helped by chiropractic care. In her case, there is no history of earlier trauma. Her migraines would continue for several days and would cause nausea and dizziness.

Along with her headaches, she also pointed out a history of an irregular menstrual cycle, she'd typically menstruate a maximum of twice per year. This issue led to infertility. After many years of not getting pregnant, she sought the help of a reproductive endocrinologist. She was put on medication which created more unwanted effects but did enable her to get pregnant. Unfortunately, after 9 weeks, she suffered a miscarriage.

After years of such problems, the woman began chiropractic care. She was first given an examination and it was identified that she did have spinal issues. Several specific chiropractic adjustments were then begun. A re-examination was carried out one month after treatment began. The individual noted a decrease in her headaches. After the second month of care, an additional examination was done and the patient said that she had no occurrence of migraine headaches for the whole previous month. In addition, she pointed out that she had started a normal menstrual cycle. Within 6 months of the initiation of chiropractic care, she became pregnant.
